Description

Experience thousands of years of ancestral Oaxacan barro negro (black clay) pottery tradition with every pour. Featuring a raw, unglazed exterior and onyx glaze interior, the NAKÚ collection is a play of light and shadow. Its color derives from locally-sourced Oaxacan clay which is gathered and burnished by hand.

Pair it with our NAKÚ latte and espresso cups for a striking set. Each piece is entirely handcrafted in a process that utilizes no molds, synthetic materials or dyes and takes over 20 days to complete.

Dimensions: 9¨ T x 4¨ diameter.

Shaped by both hand and nature, each piece is truly one of a kind. Please note that coloration, finishes, and dimensions may vary.

We are proud to partner with a family-owned, small batch taller (studio) in Oaxaca, Mexico. The tradition of barro (clay) in this community dates back over 2,000 years.

Led by five sisters and one brother, the family is dedicated to the preservation of their heritage while integrating innovative, eco-friendly technologies and sustainable design. In lieu of a wood-fired kiln, they utilize one fueled by alternative energy sources. The kiln uses recycled cooking oil from local restaurants as fuel in order to reduce their environmental impact.
